Admitted to 4th Field Ambulance, 23 May 1915; transferred to Hospital Ship 'Dunluce Castle', 28 May 1915 (influenza); to No 1 General Hospital, Heliopolis, 31 May 1915; to Australian and New Zealand Convalescent Camp, Helouan, 9 June 1915 (appendicitis); returned to duty, Gallipoli, 27 July 1915.

Admitted to HS 'Salta', 5 September 1915 (appendicitis); disembarked Alexandria, 9 September 1915, and admitted to No 2 General Hospital, Cairo; discharged, 16 September 1915, for return to Australia.

Commenced return to Australia from Suez on board HT 'Beltana', 17 September 1915; arrived Melbourne, 13 October 1915; discharged (medically unfit: chronic appendicitis), Melbourne, 9 May 1916.
