Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 19 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916.

Accidentally wounded, 25 September 1916 (bomb wound, right hand and thigh), and admitted to 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station; discharged to Hospital Barge, 26 September 1916. Admitted to General Hospital, St Omer, 28 September 1916; transferred to England, 14 October 1916 (no further details recorded).

Proceeded overseas to France, 31 December 1916; rejoined unit, in the field, 7 Janary 1917.

Wounded in action, 15 May 1917; admitted to 14th Field Ambulance, 16 May 1917 (bomb wounds, back) to 9th Casualty Clearing Station, 16 May 1917; rejoined unit, 2 June 1917.
