Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in charge of stretcher squads under heavy shell fire, rallying them when they were on the point of exhaustion through adverse weather conditions and the state of the country. He carried on though suffering from mustard gas burns.'
