'At POZIERES, FRANCE, on 22nd. August 1916, when on duty with Forward Observing Officer, Gunner HOOKE assisted to carry a wounded Officer through heavy shell fire to a Dressing Station. Bdr HOOKE'S work has been consistently of a high order. He is always among the first to volunteer when parties of runners are called for from Batteries.'
