'Sergeant HORNE displayed great gallantry and leadership when commanding his platoon after his officer was wounded during the operations east of JEANCOURT on 18th September, 1918. On two occasions he rushed machine guns with a handful of men and captured same. He also materially assisted in the mopping up of GRAND PRIE WOOD. His gallantry enforced confidence from his men.'
