Meritorious Service Medal 'Sergeant HORNER has, during the period from 25th February, 1918, to 16th September, 1918, served with his unit - from 25th February to 25th March on the MESSINES front, and for the remainder of the period on the AMIENS front in the capacity of Signal Superintendent. His duties, particularly during the operations at VILLERS-BRETONNEUX from 6th to 25th April, and in the advance from VILLERS-BRETONNEUX to the SOMME CANAL between 8th and 31st August, have demanded a high degree of control, patience and altertness, and it was chiefly due to his capable supervision that the exceptionally large amount of traffic passing through the Signal office was satisfactorily and expeditiously dealt with. He has at all times been an excellent example to those under his command, and this, together with his devotion to duty, deserves special recognition.'
