'This N.C.O. has shown great daring and intelligence in patrol work, particularly on the nights of November 10th/11th 1915 and on 11th/12th 1915 when in charge of patrol parties in Wire gully, Gallipoli owing to his intelligence the patrol was enabled to avoid a Turkish Patrol and return with valuable information to our lines.'
