Returned to Egypt and then went to France, arriving there on 29 March 1916. Was specially trained for and participated in raiding stunts along the line. Was promoted Sergeant for his part in the battle of Pozieres when, on the second night the Battalion was in action, he volunteered to lead a party to procure rations. |
