Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on ZONNEBEKE Road, near YPRES, on 26th October, 1917 L/Cpl. HOSKIN was in charge of a stretcher squad on a post where heavy shell fire was of almost constant duration. By his unselfish devotiion to duty and untiring energy he maintained this important link in the line of casualty evacuations, sticking to his post after his shelter had sustained a direct hit, directing his men and setting them a fine example of coolness and devotion to the interests of his wounded patients. His work was of the greatest value and his example a fine incentive to the less experienced bearers.'
