Military Medal 'On 12th October 1917, East of YPRES he displayed conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in action. This N.C.O. showed marked courage and coolness and did most excellent work under heavy fire, both in reorganisation and in bringing rations forward to his men. He also did splendid service in bring in the wounded. His courageous bearing at all times, had a wonderful effect on the spirits of his men.'
