On 5th April during enemy attack he organised and controlled a bombing party and succeeded in ejecting the enemy from our position. he worked up and down the line continuously cheering the men and bandaging the wounded under heavy fire of all kinds. When it was necessary to withdraw he worked splendidly and organised parties to delay the enemy's advance and protect our withdrawal.
