War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Joined the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (Gallipoli Campaign), 30 April 1915. Found guilty, Alexandria, Egypt, 1 October 1915, of being absent from duty: awarded 7 days' confined to barracks. Reverts from Driver to Gunner at own request, Zeitoun, 8 March 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 23 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 March 1916. Transferred to, and taken on strength of 21st Field Artillery Bde, 15 May 1916. Tried by Field General Court Martial, 30 August 1916, on a charge of when on active service, drunkenness; plead Guilty: awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No 2, and total forfeiture of 26 days' pay. Transferred to, and taken on strength of 2nd Field Artillery Bde, 24 January 1917, and posted to 6th Battery. Posted as 'Missing, believed Prisoner of War, 15 April 1917'.
