Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on the night 3/4 November, 1918, at Rejet de Beaulieu. He was supervising the construction of a heavy tank bridge across the canal. After landing a party and capturing a machine gun on the other side, he carried on the work of construction for some eighteen hours under heavy fire, finally completing the bridge.'
