Military Medal 'North of POZIERES. This N.C.O. was in charge of No. 12 Platoon ad displayed real courage and did exceptionally fine work. On the night of the 9th August, 1916, the enemy's position had been taken he assisted in reconnoitring the ground worn, and in linking up with the units on the right and left. He again showed to great advantage on the 12th August, 1916, when the section of trench for which he was responsible was being heavily shelled, by filling up the gaps with sand bags and removing wounded to positions of comparative safety.'
