Military Medal 'On the 22nd August, north of CHIPILLY, he showed a splendid example of courage and devotion to duty. Cars being unable to reach the Loading Post, he carried wounded during the whole day across the valley which was full of gas and under constant shell fire of H.E. and gas. His example of courage, cheerfulness and disregard for danger encouraged his squad.'
