Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty during the Bony le Catelet operations, 29 September to 3 October, 1918. When the battalion advance was checked by enemy strong posts, he volunteered to take a fighting patrol, which moved out forward with the intention of silencing enemy machine guns. The patrol successfully encountered the enemy, and routed him from his posts.'
