Admitted to 5th Australian Field Ambulance, 13 March 1918; transferred to 2nd Casualty Clearing Station, 13 March 1918 (gonorrhoea); transferred by ambulance train and admitted to 39th General Hospital, Le Havre, 18 March 1918. Discharged to Base Depot, 14 April 1918; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 33 days.

Admitted to hospital, 23 April 1918 (influenza); transferred to 2nd General Hospital, 23 April 1918; to Convalescent Depot, 28 April 1918. Transferred from 24th Bn to Australian Veterinary Hospital, Calais, and taken on strength of AVH, 24 May 1918.

Found guilty of being absent from afternoon stables, 6 June 1918: awarded 7 days' confinement to camp. Found guilty, 8 August 1918, of substituting himself for another man on picquet duty without the consent of the Section Officer: admonished.

Proceeded to Le Havre, 10 April 1919, for period of Non-Military Employment in United Kingdom, 24 April to 24 July 1919, with V.E. Coussell, British Bloodstock Agency, 26 Charing Cross Road, London. Leave cancelled, 28 May 1919. Attached for duty to AIF Headquarters, London (War Chest), 29 May 1919.

Marched to Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 1 July 1919.

Commenced return to Australia on board 'Ulysses', 22 July 1919. Admitted to ship's hospital, 1 August 1919 (tonsillitis); discharged, 16 August 1919. Disembarked Melbourne, 2 September 1919; discharged, 2 October 1919.
