'At Abu Tellul, on 14 July, 1918, during an enemy attack, he showed an utter disregard for his personal safety in attempting to keep up communications, and, in the semi darkness, even passed through parties of the enemy. He succeeded in reaching Vyse Post, where he was able to give valuable information.'
