'On night 21st/22nd June, 1918, during minor enterprise near VILLERS BRETONNEUX. Private JAMES, single handed, attacked a small enemy post on the right flank of the attacking patrol. Bayoneting one man, he shot another and brought two in as prisoners. He displayed bravery and promptness in dealing with the situation.'
