'For gallantry and devotion to duty at Guvenchy La Bank. Power for Guvenchy was supplied by means of overland cable 3/4 mile long, which was repeatedly heavily ........... and cut by shell fire. This Sapper always set an example to others by going out and repairing the cables under shell fire.'
