'Who acted as a runner between advanced Company Headquarters and the guns in the front system during the attack near ZONNEBEKE on 26th September, 1917. He was instrumental in maintaining communications and guiding ration parties tot he guns. On one occasion in a heavy barrage when the ration party who were all casualties he himself dressed the wounded and rushed away for stretcher bearers. He has shown great daring during the whole of the operations and is recommended for his bravery and valuable work. He is recommended for the Military Medal.'
