Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in command of a platoon holding an important isolated post. He handled his men with great skill, and was able to secure very important information as to the enemy's movements. His never failing cheerfulness and courage were an inspiration to his men.'
