Military Medal 'On 29th September, 1918, during operations South of BONY, Private JOHNSEN acted as a signaller and runner throughout the whole operation. He was responsible for the maintenance of signal communication between Battalion Headquarters and Advanced Headquarters. This line was continually being cut. Private JOHNSEN went out time after time under heavy shell fire to effect repairs. It was solely due to his good work that communication was maintained and Battalion Headquarters kept well informed of the situation. At all times he showed great courage and devotion to duty.'
