Military Medal 'During the operations of 11th August 1918 against RAINECOURT East of AMIENS, this N.C.O. rendered conspicuous service in organising firing positions for the Lewis guns during the consolidation of the front line. In his capacity as Lewis gun Corporal he moved continuously from post to post, visiting his guns although exposed to heavy enemy machine gun and sniping fire. With remarkable coolness he directed and maintained the covering fire of this guns while the men dug in. The splendid work of this N.C.O. in effectively harassing the enemy considerably hastened the work of consolidation and saved casualties. His keenness and disregard for personal safety were most marked and he was responsible for heavy casualties being inflicted on the enemy.'
