Medaille militaire (France)

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This gunner acting as Medical Orderly has at all times shown, and particularly during the heavy fighting near YPRES, September, December, 1917, the utmost devotion to duty and bravery in hurrying to the assistance of the wounded and in dressing their wounds under particularly trying conditions of heavy shell and gas shell bombardments. He has also shown great determination and resource in moving wounded men to a position of safety after dressing their wound and has at all times set a splendid example to all about him.'
