Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during a raid on enemy trenches near DERNANCOURT, South West of ALBERT, on the night of June 30th/July 1st 1918. Private JONES was detailed to search for enemy machine guns, and was first into the enemy trench. He bombed his way along the whole length of the trench and also moved to a position in the rear of it in the effort to locate the machine guns. He afterwards volunteered to lead a party into No Man's Land in search of a missing man, and remained out during the enemy's retaliating shoot.'
