War service: taken on strength, 1st Bn, Tel-el-Kebir, Egypt, 14 February 1916; transferred to 45th Bn, 31 March 1916.

Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 2 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 8 June 1916.

Accidentally wounded (right ankle), 7 August 1916; discharged from 4th General Hospital, Camiers, 23 August 1916.

Taken on strength, 14th Machine Gun Company, 23 September 1916.

Admitted to hospital, 1 December 1916 (piles); transferred to England, 20 December 1916; admitted to 2nd Auxiliary Hospital, Southall, 23 February 1917. Granted furlough, 27 February-13 March 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 3 July 1917, to reinforce 14th Machine Gun Company.

Wounded in action, 26 September 1917 (left leg and thigh); transferred to 47th General Hospital, 30 September 1917; died of wounds, 14 October 1917.
