Military Medal 'During the operation of the 26th/27th August, 1918, East of BRAY, it was found, necessary to establish and Advanced Signal Station under circumstances of great difficulty. Sergeant JONES answered a call for volunteers to undertake this task. This he succeeded in doing under heavy enemy shell and machine gun fire, and maintained communication throughout the operation, although the line was cut on six separate occasions, and enabled valuable information to reach Battalion Headquarters which was essential to the success of the attack.'
