Military Medal 'For great courage and devotion to duty during the attack on MONUMENT WOOD near VILLERS BRETONNEUX on the night 2nd/5th May, 1918. Under a very heavy barrage he worked continuously repairing broken telephone lines and by his untiring energy and gallant conduct succeeded in maintaining communication with the front thus enabling valuable information to be transmitted without delay. His disregard of the enemy fire was a splendid example to his comrades.'
