Meritorious Service Medal 'This Warrant Officer has been Battery Sergeant Major of his Battery since 14th September, and has at all times been keen and zealous in the execution of his duties. Whilst in action he voluntarily relieved the Spare Sergeant at the Guns, so that the latter might have a rest at the Wagon Lines. Since the cessation of hostilities he has at all times loyally supported the efforts of his officers, and has materially assisted in increasing the efficiency of his Battery.'
