Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry at Chignes, 23 August, 1918. This warrant officer was of great assistance in maintaining direction and keeping the flanks in touch. In one instance he rushed a machine gun post, killing the crew, and capturing the gun. He set a wonderful example throughout.'
