Wounded in action, 29 July 1916 (gun shot wound, back), and admitted to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to 23rd General Hospital, Etaples, 30 July 1916; to England, 2 August 1916, and admitted to East Leeds War Hospital, 3 August 1916 (gun shot wound, leg and back: slight). Found guilty, Perham Downs, 26 October 1916, of being absent without leave from 3 pm, 18 October, to 4 pm, 25 October 1916: awarded 168 hours' detention. Proceeded overseas to France, 19 November 1916; rejoined Bn, in the field, 11 December 1916.
