Military Medal 'For gallantry and distinguished service in the field during the attack near ROSIERES on 9th August 1918. After the company had gained its objective an officer and four men went forward to reconnoitre. When about 100 yards away the officer was badly wounded and though four attempts were made to bring this officer back to our lines they all failed. Private KENEALY volunteered to bring this officer in and though subject to heavy shell and machine gun fire succeeded in carrying the officer back to our lines and later back through another barrage to the aid post. His previous examples of similar exhibitions of bravery and disregard of personal danger have always been the characteristic conduct of this soldier.'
