Military Medal 'During the operations North East of PERONNE on the 2nd September 1918, this linesman showed an utter disregard for personal safety throughout the operations, maintaining for a period of ten hours a line between his Battery and the Battalion which it was supporting, all the time being subjected to very heavy hostile shelling and during the early part of the operation to enfilade fire from machine guns. It was due to this linesman's devotion to duty that the closest support was given to the assaulting infantry and during their subsequent consolidation.'
