'For gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations south of BRAY on 24th August, 1918. When enemy Machine GUns were impeding our advance, Cpl. KERR got his gun into action in the most fearless manner in the open, though subjected to a hail of bullets. He kept his gun in action until he effectively knocked out two enemy Machine Guns and enabled our infantry to advance. He set a magnificent example of coolness and disregard of personal safety.
