'On the morning of the 29th September 1918, during the attack on the HINDENBURG LINE in front of HARGICOURT, Sergeant KERR superintended the ammunition supply at the guns, which were moved forward in close support of the Infantry. The track to the guns was under heavy fire; an enemy shell of heavy calibre landed in the trail of a gun, destroying it and killing and wounding 8 of his men; but this N.C.O. supervised and controlled the arrival and departure of the wagons and teams throughout the entire period. His courage and devotion to duty were of high order, and are deserving of special recognition.'
