'For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty at BROODSEINDE RIDGE east of YPRES on 4th October, 1917, Pte. KEVIN followed the advance with telephone wires and established communication with Battalion Headquarters. He worked almost without break for 24 hours through very heavy shell fire to maintain the line. He set a splendid example to the linesmen.'
