Military Medal 'For gallant conductand devotion to duty. On the 3rd November, 1917, whilst in the forward area east of YPRES during a very heavy bombardment, a shell burst in a dug out occupied by himself and Troopers HAMMETT and HUSH, wounding these two men, and throwing Trooper KING himself out of the dug out. Although badly shaken he at once went to the assistance of his two wounded comrades; he carried Trooper HAMMETT on his shoulder under heavy shell fire to the Dressing Station, and then returned with a stretcher for Trooper BUSH. Trooper KING then took up duty at the post where he remained until relief arrived.'
