Admitted to 15th Field Ambulance, Ferry Post, 16 May 1916; rejoined unit, 17 May 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 17 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 23 June 1916. Admitted to 15th Field Ambulance, 8 July 1916 (RI hernia), and transferred same day to 12th Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train No 1, 9 July 1916, and admitted same day to No 1 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne; discharged to Base Depot, 10 July 1916 (unfit). Admitted to 26th General Hospital, Etaples, 3 August 1916; transferred to England, 8 August 1916, and admitted same day to Western Heights Military Hospital, Dover; discharged to No 1 Command Depot, 10 August 1916; transferred to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 16 August 1916, for hernia operation.
