Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field. He took a party of twenty men over very difficult intervening ground, and raided a commanding enemy post in a most dashing manner with bayonet and bomb, killing five of the enemy and capturing five prisoners, seven horses, and one machine gun. He did fine work.'
