Wounded in action, Gallipoli, 23 August 1915 (gun shot wound, chest and throat: severe); evacuated on HS 'Devanha' to Malta, 4 September 1915; transferred to England, and admitted to 3rd London General Hospital, 12 September 1915. Disembarked Alexandria, Egypt, 5 March 1916. Admitted to No 1 Australian Dermatological Hospital, Abbassia, 28 March 1916; discharged to duty, 29 May 1916; total period of treatment for veneral disease: 63 days.

Taken on strength, 2nd Light Horse Training Regiment, Tel el Kebir, 1 June 1916.
