Wounded in action, 20 March 1917, and admitted to 6th Field Ambulance; transferred to 45th Casualty Clearing Station, 21 March 1917; to 2nd Convalescent Depot, Rouen; returned to duty, 11 April 1917.

Wounded in action (2nd occasion), 2 September 1918 (gun shot wound, left arm), and admitted to 5th Australian Field Ambulance; transferred to 4th General Hospital, Etaples, 4 September 1918; to England, 14 September 1918, and admitted same day to Colchester Military Hospital; discharged on furlough, 9 November 1918, to report to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Delta', 24 January 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 10 March 1919; discharged, Melbourne, 8 May 1919.
