Wounded in action, 10 August 1916; admitted to 4th Field Ambulance, 11 August 1916 (gun shot wound, left shoulder, left forearm, left thigh); transferred to England, 22 August 1916, and admitted to 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth, 23 August 1917; transferred to 2nd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Southall, 29 November 1916; to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 7 December 1916.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Kanowna' from Southampton, 17 January 1917; disembarked Melbourne, 8 March 1917; discharged (wounded), Melbourne, 12 April 1917.
