'At HOOGE, FRANCE, on 20th September, 1917, during the attack on GLENCORSE and NONNE-BOSCHEN WOODS, Pte. KINNEALLY, a member of a Lewis Gun team, after his team had become casualties at the assembly position, took charge of the gun and magazines and moved forward with the attacking waves. He took charge of an Out Post and played his gun with great skill on the counter-attacking enemy until he was relieved. His conduct throughout set a fine example to his men.'
