Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations in the vicinity of BELLICOURT on 29th September, 1918. This N.C.O. brought his machine guns forward through heavy enemy shell and machine gun fire to a forward position to repel an enemy counter attack. He maintained these positions for a day and a night under the most trying conditions. Throughout the whole operation he set a fine example to his men by his bravery, cheerfulness and coolness.'
