Military Medal

'On the 31st August 1918, near PERONNE, this Non Commissioned Officer was in charge of the signal communications of his battery which had just crossed the SOMME in close support of the attacking infantry. It was of the utmost importance that the communications between the battery and battalion it was supporting were maintained. With great bravery throughout the day under enemy shell fire he supervised and assisted in the maintenance of the line to the battalion and to the Battery Observation Post, setting a splendid example to the other linesmen and telephonists and enabling the closest support to be given to the attacking infantry during their advance.'
