War service: Egypt, Palestine Taken on strength of 1st Australian Light Horse Training Regiment, Tel el Kebir, 29 May 1916. Proceeded to unit, 14 June 1916; taken on strength of 3rd Australian Light Horse Regiment, Romani, 16 June 1916. Found guilty, 26 July 1916, of conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline in that he struck a light when on the march contrary to orders: award, admonished. Admitted to No 1 Light Horse Field Ambulance, El Arish, 25 January 1917; discharged and rejoined unit, 2 February 1917. Detached to 6th Mobile Veterinary Section, 24 April 1918. Admitted to No 66 Casualty Clearing Station, 6 August 1918; transferred to No 75 Casualty Clearing Station, 8 June 1918; to No 47 Stationary Hospital, 10 June 1918 (debility); to No 44 Stationary Hospital, 12 June 1918; to No 31 General Hospital, Abbassia, 14 June 1918 (myaldia); to Citadel Hospital, Cairo, 30 June 1918 (not yet diagnosed, mental). Commenced return to Australia from Suez on board HT 'Karoola', 3 August 1918; disembarked Melbourne, 4 September 1918, and transferred to Adelaide. Died prior to discharge, Parkside Mental Hospital, 14 April 1920 (death a result of general paralysis and apoplectiform convulsions). Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal |
