Military Medal 'During the operations at HOOGE near YPRES on the 25th/26th September, 1917, Gunner BAXTER was acting as linesman with the Battalion Liaison Officer for the attack. This man ran back through a very heavy barrage of machine gun and artillery fire four times with messages of the most vital importance, thereby enabling the communication to be kept up. His absolute disregard for personal danger, endurance and devotion to duty were of the highest order throughout the whole engagement.'
