War service: Western Front Embarked 19 June 1918; disembarked London, England, 26 August 1918, and marched into 1st Training Bn, Sutton Veny, the same day. Promoted Acting Sergeant and Band Master, 28 August 1918. Found guilty, 13 January 1919, of being absent without leave from 0001 hours, until apprehended at Bristol at about 0755 hours, 11 January 1919: award, reprimanded and forfeits one day's pay. Proceeded overseas to France, 28 January 1919, and reverts to the rank of Private; marched into Australian Staging Camp, 29 January 1919. Taken on strength of 2nd Bn, 2 February 1919.
