Military Medal 'On 30th August 1918 this N.C.O. was posted in front of the village VILLERS-CARBONNEL South of PERONNE with his squad. Though his whole evacuation track was heavily shelled throughout, he carried on for 24 hours evacuating patient after patient in conditions of intense danger and strain. He showed a total disregard for danger and set a standard for his men that greatly assisted the evacuation of the wounded.'
